Muslim Association of Wollongong University was established in 1997 with great efforts of Muslim students and staff of University of Wollongong. Currently it has more than 250 members and is the biggest student association on campus. The aim of MAWU is to provide a platform for Muslims to enhance their knowledge and for non-Muslims to enlighten them with great teaching of Islam. MAWU also runs an Islamic Education Centre in Building 50 of University of Wollongong. Prominent features of the Islamic Education Centre are Prayer facility (for both brothers and sisters), Islamic library and Kitchen. MAWU also organise regular Jummah Prayer during academic session at Islamic Centre. Charity and other social activities are also conducted to enhance social harmony.
